situation. From those who sit to people who spend long periods on their feet, to the medical community with their kyphotic postures. All these workplace populations are at risk of developing a variety of back problems, many of which can be alleviated with correct posture, and muscular awareness.
Pilates vs. Yoga: Which is best for you?
The nature of the techniques makes it easy for them to complement each other. Though both promote flexibility with breath, Pilates posterior-lateral breathing with abdominal engagement is the same breathing taught and recommended by physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and physical therapists. Since back pain is one of the most common issues for missed work, it would make sense to reap the core strengthening benefits of Pilates. With Pilates the emphasis is ‘physical’ change rather than on ‘spiritual’ development.
